Thermocouple(J,K,R,S)-
A thermocouple or thermocouple thermometer is a junction between two different metals that produces a voltage related to a temperature difference. Thermocouples are a widely used type of temperature sensor for measurement and control and can also be used to convert heat into electric power. They are inexpensive and interchangeable, are supplied fitted with standard connectors, and can measure a wide range of temperatures.
In modern equipment the equation is usually implemented in a digital controller. Thermocouples measure the temperature difference between two points, not absolute temperature. To measure a single temperature one of the junctions—normally the cold junction—is maintained at a known reference temperature, and the other junction is at the temperature to be sensed.
Applications
Thermocouples are suitable for measuring over a large temperature range, up to 2300 °C. They are less suitable for applications where smaller temperature differences need to be measured with high accuracy, for example the range 0–100 °C with 0.1 °C accuracy. For such applications thermistors and resistance temperature detectors are more suitable. Applications include temperature measurement for kilns, gas turbine exhaust, diesel engines, and other industrial processes.

Resistance Temperature Detectors or RTDs or pt-100 rtd
Resistance Temperature Detectors or RTDs for short, are wire wound and thin film devices that measure temperature because of the physical principle of the positive temperature coefficient of electrical resistance of metals. The hotter they become, the larger or higher the value of their electrical resistance.
They are among the most precise temperature sensors available with resolution and measurement uncertanties or ±0.1 °C or better possible in special desions. Usually they are provided encapsulated in probes for temperature sensing.
The advantages of RTDs include stable output for long period of time, ease of recalibration and accurate readings over relatively narrow temperature spans.

Thermowell
Thermowells are enclosed and reentrant Protection tubes into which temperature sensing elements can be inserted and comes in all shapes and sizes. A typical Device is taper threaded Protective Process entry tube with a male Process entry thread and female Thermowell entry head for the thermocouple or RTD assembly Attachment.
The internal Diameter of the Thermo well is usually such that the Sensor can be easily inserted, but no longer to minimize the air gape, and thus maximize the Thermal response and the atmospheric Protection.
This can also be achieved by the incorporation of a reduced bore at the tip of the thermowell to accommodate the sensing element of insert assembly.
